School Councils are created to improve communication, and participation of parents and the community in the management and operation of schools under the Education Reform Act of 2000 (O.C.G.A. 20-2-85-86).
The mission of the School Council is to focus on school improvement and student achievement. School Councils are designed to help the local board of education develop and nurture community participation, as well as, to bring parents and the community together with teachers and school administrators to create a better understanding of shared concerns. This position is a two-year term.
Under the Open Meetings Act (O.C.G.A. 50-14-1 - 50-14-6), the following Newton High School Council meetings will be held. Unless otherwise noted, the meetings will be held in the Front Office Conference Room at 5:00 pm at Newton High School.
